Originally a large farm, Villa Ura dates back over 300 years; more recently, it was the local schoolhouse. During restoration, many of the original features were uncovered and old methods of plastering with pigments were used. The result is a house that is sympathetic to the past but with up-to-date amenities creating a perfect blend of the old and the new.

Flagstones used for the kitchen floor are re-laid originals, some of the cabinets are made from the old windows and shutters, and there is a big stone fireplace in the main living room. Lamps made from wine flagons complement low voltage lighting and bathroom fittings are contemporary – of which one has a sink carved out of local travertine stone. The house is furnished with a combination of antiques and modern furniture.
